Superga Platform Sneakers

When it comes to height enhancing sneakers and platform shoes, we can’t possibly miss out on Superga. The Italian brand has already made it on a couple of our lists for best platform sneakers out there, so it was only a matter of time before we dedicated a whole piece to them.

Despite having some of the best platform sneakers out there, they did not put Superga on the map. In fact, many people forget that the brand has been open since 1911 and has a slew of classic trainers for men, women and children. They began to turn heads in 1925 when they implemented vulcanised rubber in what would be their breakthrough silhouette, the 2750.

But enough about the 2750! Let’s talk about their vast selection of platform shoes. Superga aimed to continue making high-quality shoes with flattenable uppers, making them perfect for storing, but with the addition of a chunky platform. Thus, the flatform Superga trainers were born!

Aside from having a decent amount of platform silhouettes, the Italian shoe brand made a wide range of colourways in order to match any look. Most Superga shoes are also made of vegan materials, which has made them even more popular. The shoes that are not vegan are usually made of Nappa leather. As the amount of royals and celebrities wearing them grows, so does the number of diehard Superga supporters. Some companies like Reebok merely dabble with platform shoes, and others make them a huge part of their brand identity. Sadly, like many brands out there, Superga only makes platform shoes for women. Gents, if you’re looking for a height enhancing shoe, check the first link! Ladies, let’s continue.

As far as platforms go, Superga has a range of heights. We’ll explore some of them now.

Let’s start with the…

  • 2740 Platform Nappa
  • 2790 Linea Up Down
  • 2708 Hi Tops
  • 2631 Stripe Platform
  • 2287 Bubble Line
  • 3051 Alpina Apex Vegan Faux Ltr

The Superga 2740 Platform Nappa

On the Superga website, these are exclusive to the UK; however, other stores sell them internationally. The iconic style of these Superga 2740 sneakers harkens back to the old-school Superga design and is elevated by the 1.4” sole.

The upper of this platform shoe is made of soft Nappa leather, hence the name, adding to the quality of the shoe. On the Superga site, these cost £119. These are women’s sneakers and come in a size range of 2 and a half to 8 (UK size).

The Superga Platform Canvas 2790 Linea Up Down

These might be the best-known Superga platform shoes, their platform canvas trainers. The 2790 Superga Flatform shoes are a hybrid between the classic Superga tennis shoes and a 1.6” solid rubber platform sole. The upper is made from a high-quality vegan canvas and comes with many pastel colourway options. The lining is cotton, adding comfort to the shoe, which is especially important with platform shoes.

These cost £85 on the online store, but individual colourways are often subject to discounts. We suggest going a size down when purchasing these particular sneakers.

2708 Hi Top Canvas Trainers

Superga knows how much we love high-tops; thus, the 2708 Hi Tops were born. The upper is made out of extremely breathable cotton, while the platform sole does its job by adding 1.6” to the wearer’s height. These shoes also have an insole specifically made for additional comfort and support. Like the 2790s, these shoes are 100% vegan and animal cruelty-free.

The 2708 Hi Tops cost £80 at the Superga store, which is great for a pair of platform ankle high trainers, and come in women’s sizes 2 and a half to 8 (UK sizes).

2631 Stripe Platform

For an on-trend utilitarian touch, these sneakers have a cotton fabric with a cushioned collar reinforced with a rubber toe cap. The 2631’s distinctive structure makes them an easily stylish complement to your everyday outfit.

The soles give the wearer the 1.6” height boost, while the canvas upper is lined on the inside with cotton for extra comfort. These shoes have a removable insole if the wearer’s feet need a little extra space, or perhaps they want to replace them with some height boosting insoles.

These are usually £95 but are currently on sale at Superga. The discount price varies between colourways but ranges from £57 to £47.

2287 Bubble Line

Looking for a different shape? Can’t really view these as ‘flatforms’.

The curved platform sole gives the 2287’s a fresh silhouette and differentiates them from other Superga shoes. The heel stands 1.9” above the ground, while the toes are 1.2” tall. Despite having a shorter toe, these shoes stand the wearer taller than many of their brothers and sisters on the list.

The upper is made from a super breathable vegan canvas but has no lining on the inside. These usually cost £85 but are on sale for  £51 – a perfect opportunity?

3051 Alpina Apex Vegan Faux Ltr

Having a hard time believing that these beasts are vegan? Well, they are. Superga’s take on a hiking boot has brought us a boot that gives the wearer 2.3” of additional standing height, all while staying suitable for the outdoors.

These come in black and white and are typically £155 on the online store, which is as high as Superga goes on the price scale. For this Christmas, however, they have dropped down to £93. These are also one of the only pairs without the Superga logo on the tag, which makes it even more of a unique product. Try these with a pair of loose fitting light blue jeans with distress marks.

Not since Buffalo have platform shoes seen the feet of girl bands and princesses. Superga is certainly a staple of the platform niche with its timeless silhouettes and affordable prices. With so many shoes for sale, we definitely missed some! Check out their site and online shop for more.
