Reebok Platform Sneakers

Reebok used to be the most successful shoe brand in the world. While this was only for a short period of time, it was long enough to carve its place in the Sneaker Hall of Fame. Yes, brands like Nike and Adidas run the hype show now, but streetwear, clothing accessories and fitness are massive spaces. Even now, Reebok has a significant place in the sneaker realm, with artists like Rae Sremmurd, Cardi B, Ariana Grande, and the Wonderous Amazon Gal Gadot still endorsing them to this day.

While many believe that Reebok likes to stay in its lane, the shoe company does, in fact, stay up to date with the latest trends. One growing trend that Reebok has not ignored is height boosting and platform shoes.

Brands Nike and Adidas have released a few platformed silhouettes, while other brands like New Balance only offer a very small selection of platform shoes. Today, we’re going to take a look at Reebok’s contribution to the Platform niche.

Reebok has 5 platform sneakers to choose from:

  • Club C Double Platform Sneakers
  • Club C Extra Shoes
  • Classic Leather SP Extra Sneakers
  • Glide Ripple Double Shoes
  • Royal Classic Jogger Platform Sneakers

Let’s start with the…

Club C Double Platform Trainers

Reebok is famous for its flat soles, so it’s interesting to see what Reebok trainers look like with a platform midsole. Funny, it looks a lot like an Air Force 1.

The Club C Doubles are the standard platform trainers Reebok has. The most popular colourway has the gum outsoles that many shoe brands have used and that we all know and love.  The EVA midsole not only provides a height boost but is comfortable and durable.

One of the coolest things about Reebok, aside from being in style now, is how affordable they are. These platforms cost £85 on FARFETCH and give the wearer an added height of 1.5”.

Club C Extra Shoes

If the Club C Doubles weren’t enough, the Extras might be a great solution. The silhouette is exactly the same, and they even have many of the same colourways. The only difference is the height of the EVA midsoles.

These bigger midsoles boost the height of the wearer by 1.6”, giving it a slight edge over the Club C Double sneakers. On both the Reebok site and FARFETCH, they are priced only £5 more than the Club C Extra shoes, but the latter site often has them on sale. Right now, the gum sole C Extras are going for only £45, making them an extremely affordable impulse buy.

Both the Club C Double and Club C Extra are women’s shoes but the sizes go up high enough for some men to wear. Besides, neither silhouette is overly feminine.

Classic Leather SP Extra Sneakers

Moving on to some of Reebok’s different platform silhouettes, the SP Extras are next on the list. The shoe is styled more as a running shoe than a casual sneaker, with a gripped outsole for better traction.

Like many mainstream platform sneakers, the midsoles are made from EVA materials in order to provide both comfort and support to the wearer. Of course, with a runner, the insole can not be flat, and the heel must be taller than the toe. The heel of the insole stands at 2”, which is the perfect amount of elevation for many. Sadly, these are exclusively women’s shoes in women’s sizes only. On the Reebok site, sizes end at a woman’s 8.5. Sorry Kings!

These usually cost £85 on the Reebok site but are currently a victim of the seasonal sale, dropping them down to a shockingly affordable £43.

Glide Ripple Double Shoes

Much like the SP Extra, the Glide Ripple is exclusively a shoe for the lil Queens. Vibrant iridescent accents on the heel tab and side stripes of these women’s white Reebok sneakers give them a striking appearance. The midsole, which is platform-style, is made of the standard EVA mould and gives a slight rise in height of 1.1”.

This is a pretty small height boost for a sneaker. Brands like Superga tend to have much taller platforms, but if you’re looking for a unique women’s runner with slight height elevation, then maybe these are the pair. They usually cost £60 on the Reebok online shop but ‘tis the season’ to be £48.

Royal Classic Jogger Platform Sneakers (Kids)

Oh, look! Shoes for kids! And they’re platforms?

That’s correct; the Royal Classic Jogger is a kid’s sneaker and, for that reason, is the most affordable shoe on the list. These usually cost £38, which is already fantastic for a well-known shoe brand. With the Christmas discount, these are now £19.

The Classics also boost the wearer by roughly 1”, and considering the wearer is a literal child, it’s a considerable height. Then again, is anyone really buying height boosting sneakers for creatures that grow an extra millimetre by the second?
